Form D-410 is used to extend the time for filing a North Carolina Individual Income tax return (Form D-400). This form is not required if you were granted an automatic extension to file your federal income tax return. However, if you owe State income tax, use Form D-410. The extension is only for filing your return. If you were granted an automatic federal extension and need to make a payment for taxes due, use Form D-410.
